How did you gain all of your knowledge of the piano ( theory, choir parts, improvisation, jazz soloing etc)?
Did you go to school or did someone show you all that you know? I am curious
I want to learn more but I don’t know where to start. I do play and am studying with APSOM.
But what else do you recommend? I love to play and want to learn as much as I can. If you could answer my questions that would be great…. Thanks so much!
That is a great question! And not an easy one to answer!
I wish I had had something like Apostolic Praise School of Music when I was learning to play.
But I did not, so I had to learn the long, tedious way. Here is a short list of some ways God blessed me to be able to learn.
Self-taught through books (which my mom was always buying for me – thanks Mom!)
Listening and practicing with literally hundreds of artists and songs on CDs (trying to figure out what they are doing and copy it – I still do this)
Some advanced level jazz classes (I teach many of these concepts throughout our courses as they apply to gospel music and will be adding more)
Advanced Level Online Videos and DVDs
The main thing to remember is that no matter how good you get, remember that you can learn SOMETHING from ANYBODY.
The other thing to remember is to “NEVER Stop Learning.” Keep progressing in your lessons with Apostolic Praise School of Music. We will literally teach you “everything” you need to know to learn how to play and success in your playing.
There are many resources out there but many times you have to kind of pick through to find the good stuff or you already have to know a lot to be able to decipher what they are saying.
Hope this helps and God bless!
