Want that Fat Chord Sound?

We get a lot of students that tell me they want that fat chord sound. So how do you get that?

ANSWER: Big full-sounding chords and chord voicings.

You need to be playing more notes.

For example, your C2 (C D G/C) turns into a Cmaj9add13 (A B D E G/C).

Or maybe your Cm7 (Bb Eb G/C) turns into a Cm9add11 (Bb D Eb F G/C).

It’s not all about your right hand chord, but your left hand plays a part too.

However, before you can play these big full-sounding chords in either hand, you need to learn all of your 7ths, 9ths, 11ths, and 13ths!

That is why we came out with AP 204: The Secrets to Playing Gospel and Pentecostal Music. This course starts with the basic chords and teaches you every chord you will need to sound BIG.

Then AP 301: Next Level Chords comes in and teaches you voicings (different ways to play those big chords between both hands to get BIG sounds).
